Into My Forest of Circumstance by ~CaptainCaffiene:iconCaptainCaffiene:

I'm lost, deep into a forest of thought
Miles and miles I travel, still no way out
Round and round I go, no sense of direction
Repeating the cycle of imperfect discretion

My life feels like a big disgrace
I fight to find a way out of here
Still I continue to get stuck in this place
The way out once was clear, now clouded in fear

Here I stand amongst the shadows of trees
The branches so dense that I cannot see
I stand in hope the Light will shine through to me
I stand in hope He'll come to rescue me

I seek a clearing. Let the trees come down
I need beginning. Let the trees come down
Let the trees fall down; let Your glory come down
Let the trees fall down; let Your glory rain down

Wash over me, wash over me
Send rivers like a flood over me
Set me free, Come rescue me
I need Your grace to rain over me

Author's Comments

Written Sunday, March 26, 2009 by me. It was during a quiet time before an evening prayer/ worship service and I was thinking about how small I felt and messed up by all my distractions, knowing full well my focus isn't where it should be, knowing all the wrong I've done, people I haven't forgiven, things I've said... I felt really dark. Nobody really knows who I am on the inside, all the ugliness I've had pent up within... the anger and my frustrations with my old job and school and small less important things. The trees in this poem resemble all that I am going through... a vast forest of troubles that I feel I have wandered and gotten lost from God. I wrote this poem as another redemption song for me... seems like a lot of my stuff is that sort
